Three or four year postgraduate studentships
The four year programme will encompass a first year that will involve attendance on the Faculty’s Graduate School’s taught course programme. This is organised and run within the School of Medical Sciences and includes course on experimental design, statistics, molecular biology, study skills, etc. In addition, these students will spend 6-10 week periods working with the leaders of each of the major research themes before deciding what their PhD project will be in detail. Transferable skills training will use existing courses available through University’s staff training programme, but will be unashamedly directed at research career skills.
The subsequent three years will be spent primarily within the laboratories at which the funded research programme is based. However, the nature of the work will involve extended periods of secondment to other laboratories in the consortium.
